Poetry Reading: Piotr Florczyk and Devon Miller-Duggan 7pm – 8pm, Thursday March 12, First Floor UD@Crane

UD@Crane is pleased to present a poetry reading by Piotr Florczyk and Devon Miller-Duggan on Thursday, March 12th, from 7-8 pm at UD@ Crane. Professors Florcyck and Miller-Duggan are Creative Writing instructors at the University of Delaware.

Originally from Krakow, Poland, Piotr Florczyk is the translator and editor of Been and Gone: Poems of Julian Kornhauser (Foreword by Adam Zagajewski), forthcoming from Marick Press. He is also a recipient of the 2007 Anna Akhmatova Fellowship for Younger Translators and a 2008 poetry fellowship from the Delaware Division of the Arts."

Devon Miller-Duggan’s poems have appeared in CutBank, The Indiana Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Chattahoochee Review and other journals. She has won an individual Artist Fellowship from the Delaware Division of the Arts and the Editor’s Prize in Margie. She teaches and advises for the University of Delaware’s Honors Program, is married to an historian and has two grown daughters. Her first collection, Pinning the Bird to the Wall, appeared in November 2008 from Tres Chicas Books.


“Perceptual Shift”, Opening Reception,Thursday, March 12, 6-9 pm, Crane Arts Center in Philadelphia, SEA Space, Lower Level UD@Crane

This exhibition is an assemblage of artists, first year MFA candidates, from the University of Delaware who have come together in a unique interdisciplinary program. “Perceptual Shift” includes the work of Cody Bloom, Molly Fletcher, Stacey Johnson- Brown, Ben McCullough, Katsi Ortiz and Darius Steward. The exhibition will continue through March 22nd.

“Beyond Matter – Part 1, University of Delaware MFA Alumni Exhibition”, Curated by Nora Lawrence, Curatorial Assistant, Museum of Modern Art, New York City

Nora Lawrence, Curatorial Assistant at the Museum of Modern Art, New York City, selected eleven artists to be exhibited in “Beyond Matter -Part I & II”. Ms. Lawrence reviewed a pool of ninety University of Delaware Master of Fine Arts alumni to curate the exhibitions.

“Beyond Matter – Part I” features the work of Rebecca Dietz, Mark Franchino, Helen Mason, Janell Olah, Alex Schuchard and Jeremy Wineberg. “Beyond Matter – Part II will open in April 9, 2009, and will feature the work of Daniel Fielder, Deborah
Kapoor, Frank Lavelle, Jeannie Pearce and Nicholas Schutsky.
